Finally!

So I was getting a little kerfluffled that so many people I knew (Heather) were seeing Twilight once, twice, three times and I hadn't yet. Being stuck in the house all day with a sick kid, and knowing I would be stuck all day in the house tomorrow with a sick kid, I batted my best chilly-willy eyes at David and he shooed me out the door to the movies. I went to the late show, after the kids were in bed, and I had a fairly empty theatre, which was nice because I was hearing rumors of audiences screaming and wooing over a certain vampire. Fortunately, my audience was perfectly subdued. Here are my thoughts for those of you who care (Heather).
Edward--perfectly cast
Bella--perfectly cast
Jacob--gag, cough, sputter, what were they thinking???
Special effects--well it was a low-budget film and they looked kinda low budget
Favorite scene--when Bella walks into the science classroom and the fan blows her hair. Edward's reaction is priceless.
Baseball scene was great, exactly how it was described in the book, but why was Emmet wearing velour?
Bella at the Cullen house was also great.
My advice (for anyone besides Heather still reading this post): do NOT see this movie if you haven't read the book. It will look so cheesy. If you know the book and know what Bella and Edward are thinking about--what all the characters are thinking--you will really enjoy it.
I loved it. Heather, please comment!

I am so glad you got to go! I was feeling a little guilty. David is awesome.
Okay, yeah, I agree that it would have been way more cheeseball if we didn't know and love these guys already. We all kinda laughed when the fan blew her hair and Edward looked as if he were going to hurl. AND the part where she is in the hospital bed and stammers for like, 3 minutes. AND the hilarious sepia toned "olden days scene". But yes, Edward and Bella are perfect, and I really thought they did great with Charlie and Victoria's characters. The shotgun part was hilarious.
I reeeeaaallly liked the montage part, when Edward is you know what-ing, and he almost can't you know what. All the grainy, artsy shots, mixed with PERFECT music was amazing. I love so much of it. Love the baseball scene, too. Haha. Good call on the velour!
Oh, and yeah. Jacob is ....eh. He did grow on me a little in his last scene, when he came to talk to Bella? But the next one will have a lot of him, so I hope he gets better.
My mom was messing with me today and asked what time she should come get the kids. I laughed, but for a nanosecond I was running through movie times in my head. HEHE.
All in all, it's awesome, and it makes me crazy knowing how long it will be before they are all out. I am rereading the series to stay in Forks, at least some of the time.
It's good to know we can still feel like teenagers! And I *think* Edward and Bella have actually inspired a little spark in my marriage, too, so that's always a good thing, right?? Ahem.

I only wish we could go together for your second time! Adam is flying to Denver next week and I am so jealous!!

Have y'all read Midnight Sun b/c that explains Edward's reaction in the biology lab. Sorry, had to come to his defense. It makes much more sense in the context of Edward's perspective, rather than Bella's in Twilight.

Also, Brian (husband) did not read the book and thought the movie was great and had no trouble following it or keeping up. I actually felt it was harder for me who has read Twilight more than once b/c I was over-analyzing everything the first time.

It took me a 2nd and 3rd viewing to really relax and enjoy the movie fully --

Jacob is a dirty disgusting dog no matter who plays him.

Baseball scene gave me a new appreciation for Jasper. Emmett wearing velour Fila cracked me up too.

Sorry, I'm hijacking your blog comment section. I am a tad obsessed. Don't believe me? Head over to my blog. LOL

Oh, who am I? A friend of Heathers. :)

Yah! You saw it. I agree with you about the special effects, particuarly the "angelic" look on Edward in the sun!

I completely understand Edward's reaction to Bella in science--but b/c Bella doesn't understand, that's what makes it so funny.

Did they give Jacob a hair weave or a wig? Honestly, it's just terrible.

I'm just one of those sticklers for reading books before you see the movie version--it's the English Lit. major in me. The book is always, always better ;)

Yeah, the reaction thing is just funny because of what she doesn't know. Edward is amazing. I mean, he's perfect.
I am so mad at my hubby for his new blog! Ugh, men. Haha. How dare he!
At least Jasper chilled out during baseball. He's a cutie, too!
And Alice is perfect, and Rose is good too.
Yep, Jacob is wearing a wig! The first scene it was noticably off for sure. I hope he gets better!
So, Cathy, are you still in the Twilight fog this morning??

Yay Cathy! I don't know if you remember me - Rhonda Feddes - from CBS (Sam and Lainy's mom). Love your blog!

I'm so excited you have a Twilight post and there are other 'adult' Twilight fans in Co. Springs! I read the books so I could see what all the hype was about - and I LOVED them! Escapism at it's best. I haven't had that much fun reading books forever.

I saw the movie twice - once with a friend and once with my teen son *had to bribe him with food and the lure of lots of teen girls in the theater*. He actually has read the books but is not a big fan. He just wanted to know what the girls are all talking about *smart kid*.

I had the most fun at the Friday night showing - because all the young girls were there and screaming at the kissing scenes, and Edward scenes. It was obnoxious and over the top - but, oh so fun!

I over analyzed the first showing too - and was kind of disappointed where they deviated from the book. I like the book's dialog much better. But when I went a 2nd time I was able to just let my inner teen sit back and squeal at the Edward scenes. My favorite: when he walks in the cafeteria the first time she sees him. Oh, and of course the kissing scene. *Swoon*. Although, why did they have to put her in underwear? That annoyed me. In my mind, Edward would have told her to put some clothes on! He was quite the gentleman. But, I guess they felt the need to add more skin for the movie. Puke.

I also loved Jasper - and I know a lot of people don't. He just made me laugh with that silly look on his face all the time - like he was trying desperately hard not to eat everyone all the time. Classic.

The meadow scene was a disappointment to me. I liked the romantic progression better in the book - but I know they had to change things for time sake.

Okay, that's all I've got! I really need to come up with an excuse for going a 3rd time! lol

Can't wait for #2
