"I refuse to accept the view that mankind is so tragically bound to the starless midnight of racism and war that the bright daybreak of peace and brotherhood can never become a reality... I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word." Martin Luther King, Jr.

I owe him all the happiness I have with my children. Can you fathom how much I owe him?

I love this and haven't heard it before. We're having a cake today for his birthday - it's the least we can do. That, and continue on his dream.

I also hadn't heard this particular quote, and love it as well. We owe so much, not only to him, but to countless others who have been demonized or forgotten. Today I will take time to remember and thank them all.

Not just your children but mine as well. A world of racism breeds contempt for what is right, and obliterates the good that can come from believing that good is better than evil.

Some people stand up to what is wrong and pay the price. Others cower from the pain of doing what is right. Dr. King stood for what was right, and this country and the world gained from his selflessness.

All of us who grew up where I did, have been guilty of racism. That part of the world is slowly eroding, and some day those thoughts will be forgotten and will not matter.

The world advances through good, it ebbs from hate.
